Hello everyone,
We are a commissioned team jointly led by Professor Wei Sun and Professor Tsai-Tsu Su (Emeritus) from the Department of Political Science and Graduate Institute of Public Affairs at National Taiwan University. We are currently implementing the Taiwan Centers for Disease Control–commissioned project “Stakeholder Consultation on Revising Blood Donation Restrictions for Men Who Have Sex with Men (MSM)”.
To improve the safety and quality of blood products and ensure stable supply, Taiwan’s Food and Drug Administration issued the “Donor Health Standards” in 2006, setting eligibility and health criteria that included restrictions on certain groups. However, with advances in blood screening technology and improved quality control, many countries have in recent years revised these restrictions.
Through this stakeholder consultation, the project aims to gather input from scholars, experts, and civil society organizations to discuss and deliberate the standards regarding eligible donor groups, building consensus that can inform policy adjustments responsive to new scientific evidence and evolving circumstances.
